River Plate announces parting ways with ‘Demichelis’

Martin Demichelis has stepped down as head coach of River Plate by mutual consent after a year and a half in charge amid a string of disappointing results.

“Martin Demichelis has stepped down as head coach, ทางเข้า ufabet following a decision reached with the club’s highest authorities,” a club statement read.

“River Plate would like to thank Demichelis for his professionalism, commitment and respect for our colours, which enabled him to win three trophies.”

last coached River in the recent 1-0 home league win over Sarmiento. The

43-year-old former defender took over from Marcelo Gallardo in 2022 after Gallardo had been in charge for almost nine years.

However, local media reported that fans have been unhappy with the team’s recent performances. This ultimately led to Demichelis’s departure.

During his 18-month tenure, Demichelis managed River Plate for a total of 87 games, winning the league title, the Supercopa de Campeones title and one Trofeo de Campeones title each.

The club is one of Argentina’s two most-popular football clubs and Boca Juniors’ arch rivals.

The club said Demichelis will coach River for the last time on Sunday in the home game against Sarmiento de Junin in the country’s top league, the Primera Division.

Demichelis took over from Marcelo Gallardo in 2022, after Gallardo stepped down after nearly nine years in the role, during which he won the most titles in the club’s history.

River won three titles during Demichelis’ 18 months in the role, in which the team played 86 games. In the current championship, River has won just one of five matches.

The team leads the standings with 27 points.

Local media have reported that the record has failed to impress the club’s fans, known as “los millonarios”
